Phlebotomy Technician

Venipuncture specialists, also known as Phlebotomists, have become an integral part in the health care industry as the demand for this profession has increased over the years. The most obvious factor for this increased demand is the expansion of healthcare needs overall as the population continues to grow, and health insurance gradually becomes more accessible. More recently, doctors and nurses who typically practiced phlebotomy are now overwhelmed with other matters beyond the collection of blood. Thus, creating more opportunities for professionals willing to specialize in venipuncture.

In addition to performing this function in a clinical setting, phlebotomists play an important role in the collection of blood for medical research as well as for casualty companies who offer life insurance policies. Individuals who plan to become professionals in the medical industry, often start as phlebotomists because it requires a short period of training, and because employment is relatively easy to find. Phlebotomy is considered a great way to try out the medical field.
