Jason Pettner was recognized for his accomplishments this spring at Penn State Behrend’s Excellence in Student Leadership and Service Awards when he received the T. Reed Ferguson Award. The award honors a junior who has demonstrated scholarship, leadership and citizenship through his or her academic and out-of-class involvement and shows promise of further achievement in the senior year.
Because of her heritage and previous life experiences, Wenrui Cai, who is of Chinese descent but was raised in Milan, Italy, has always been interested in interacting with diverse populations. That’s exactly what she has done at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, where she recently completed her sophomore year.
Alexandra Alfonso Castro, a chemistry major who recently completed her junior year at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, has made it her mission to promote healthy habits on campus. She created the Campus Health and Fitness Club, a new student organization that educates students on how they can avoid getting sick.
Jack Stone’s abstract art upends a long career in marketing and advertising, jumbling refined commercial images in a process he calls “digital deconstruction.” The new versions will be on display at Penn State Behrend through Sept. 8.
The Penn State Bookstores, managed by Barnes and Noble, has awarded its second round of grants to support a range of programs and initiatives across the University. As previously announced, the bookstores launched the new grant program through a five-year, $1.25 million commitment to the University.
The Penn State Graduate School Alumni Society is accepting nominations for three recognition awards — the Early Career Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Humanitarian Award — through Sept. 30.
