Some fitness activities may be easy to start while you’re a kid, but harder to maintain as an adult. Team sports are a perfect example of this. It may be easy to join a tackle football team in high school, but it’s going to be a little more difficult to find a team in your 40s. This is why it’s important to focus on learning and participating in activities that are easier to maintain over the course of your life. These types of activities are highly varied, so try several until you find the one that meets your needs.

Raise a Racket

Grab a racket and a friend and head to your community tennis courts for a lifetime physical activity. Tennis is ideal because it only requires two people to play and regardless of your ability level, the running, bending and hitting provide a strenuous workout. Whatever your age, give tennis a shot as a way to stay healthy and active.

Ditch the Cart

Ditch the golf cart and walk the course for a game that incorporates fitness and skill. Golfers can walk more than 5 miles when playing a full 18 holes, and because it’s a sport that you can play alone or in a group, golf meets the needs of both the introverted or extroverted player. Golf can take a lifetime to master, so hone your skill and get some exercise at your local community golf course.

Dance Your Heart Out

Turn on your favorite tunes and dance your heart out. Whether you dance in the privacy of your own home or you take lessons at the local studio, dance is an activity that is always available, regardless of your age or ability level. A wide variety of dance styles exists, including salsa, swing, jazz and hip-hop.
