Decide where you want to go. There are timeshares in most major tourist destinations and several hidden destinations as well, so be specific in your choice.
Decide on the length and time of your visit and estimate how much you wish to pay. Remember that popular destinations will be booked far in advance. Plan ahead.
Get online and find a timeshare website that offers a search function. A few options include timeshare-resale-rental.com, tug2.com and redweek.com.
Find the option that allows you to search timeshares for rent, and click on the link. The website will let you search by location, either by list or by map. Click on your destination of choice.
Review the list of available timeshares in your destination. Most websites will provide pictures, reviews, prices and other information. If there are no timeshares listed, try searching for timeshares in a nearby city or town. In your notebook, write down all of the information, including contact information, for any timeshare you are interested in.
Compile a list of several potential timeshares to rent, and compare them by location and price. List the timeshares in order from your most preferred to your least.
Call to inquire about your first timeshare of choice. Inquire about your dates of arrival and departure and check to be sure the price was correct. If you are flying to this destination, ask the timeshare owner how far the timeshare is from the nearest airport, as well as about car rental or other transportation possibilities.
