In 2003, Fortis Inc. a variable life insurance and annuity business began the process of becoming Assurant – a publicly traded company. In 2004, Assurant was born when Fortis, Inc. completed their initial public offering process and began to trade on the New York Stock Exchange. Today, Assurant provides creditor-placed homeowners insurance; debt protection administration; credit insurance; individual health and small employer group health insurance; group dental insurance; group disability insurance; group life insurance; and pre-funded funeral insurance.
Assurant is a Fortune 500 company headquartered in One Chase Manhattan Plaza, New York City. They are a provider of specialized insurance services. The company has been in business since 1892. In 1977, it incorporated as AMEV Holdings, Inc.
The company provides health insurance coverage for over 1 million policyholders nationwide. Assurant operates four key businesses: Assurant Employee Benefits, Assurant Health, Assurant Solutions, and Assurant Specialty Property.
Assurant Life Insurance Says
Assurant Life Group offers a wide variety of specialized insurance products and financial services, but their primary line is group life insurace. Their employee benefits offers employers a choice of group term life plans for their employee groups with as few as three employees. The amount of coverage can be based on a multiple of earnings, flat amounts or a combination of the two.
To enhance basic coverage, Assurant Inc. employers also may choose Accidental Death Dismemberment (AD D) coverage, Dependent Life Insurance coverage, or Additional Contributory Life Insurance as options.
